Adriana Hernández
Profession
Adriana Hernández (Deva Celeste), was born in Bello (Antioquia), Colombia. She studied Social Communications at the Colombian Cooperative University in Medellin; Poetry and Literature at the University of Antioquia; and Theater and Television Arts at the Culturartes Academy in Medellin. She also holds a Certificate in Performing Arts from the Ministry of Education of Colombia, and has recently been granted a “Doctor Honoris Causa” Degree from the Colombian Cooperative University of Medellin.
Adriana was a Journalist at “El Colombiano” Newspaper in Medellín for several years, where she published a Column entitled “Poetry for All Times”.
Her first recording of poetry with musical background, includes fourteen compositions of well known Colombian, Spanish and Latin American poets and composers. Her second recording, is a poetry album containing three CDs of classic and modern poetry, and of tangos and boleros, composed by leading Latin American and Spanish poets and composers.


Career path
Since coming to the United States in 2000, Adriana has participated in several cultural events and presentations, conducted in New York and New Jersey, Washington, DC and Miami, in which she has had a leading part.
Adriana has participated in several TV Programs in New York City, where she has presented her poetry. Her poem “One Second, Listen, Soto Voce” was published in “The Colors of Life Anthology”. Her biography appears in Who’sWho in America 2004” by MARQUIS Who’sWho. She is a member of the Latin American Association of Actors “HOLA”, and of the Pan American Cultural Center. During 2004-2006, Adriana recorded a TV Program “Poetry Under the Stars” for Educational TV Channel HITN, in New York.
Adriana is the author of the book of poems “Esperando Abril” (Awaiting April), which was published in early 2006 by the Colombian Cooperative University in Medellin. The book’s Prologue was written by former President of Colombia – Belisario Betancur. Her book of poems, was presented at the New York Book Expo in June 2006, and at the Colombian Consulate in New York in November, of the same year.“Premios Colombia USA 2006” selected Adriana as the artist of the year, for her cultural achievements and for enhancing Colombia’s cultural heritage overseas. She was also presented a Certificate of Recognition for her cultural achievements by the “Desfile de la Hispanidad” of New York.

Premios Arte 2007
In 2007, Adriana was selected as one of the leading cultural artists in New Jersey, and was awarded “Premios Arte”. Certificate by the Mayor of Union City, Brian P. Stack, presented to her on July 20, 2007 the anniversary of Colombia’s independence.

San Salvador Después del Eclipse
Adriana was also part of the cast of a play presented in New York City, entitled: “San Salvador After the Eclipse” by Salvadorian writer Carlos Velez, and directed by dramatist Elmer Salmeron. The play was nominated for “Premio Ases” as the best dramatic play, in New York City.
Adriana conducted Hispanic-American poetry workshops for the Central Consulate of Colombia in New York; and currently, she directs the Red Coffee Cultural Entrepreneurship Center Foundation.
